Thomas, Thomas & Thomas, P.C. focuses on sales and use tax for all industries, with an emphasis on construction and oil and gas. Our mission is to help people preserve their jobs, businesses, and way of life. We tenaciously advocate for ourselves and everyone we serve.
The firm focuses on education, teaching our clients the ins and outs of sales tax for their industry through our regular classes and consulting services. We also represent clients in sales tax audits as necessary, perform nexus research throughout the country and execute other tasks related to state and local tax.
The firm was founded in 1993 by Barbara J. Thomas, CPA, a former auditor with the Texas Comptroller’s office. In 2001, daughters Mary and Stephanie joined the company. Barbara signed the CPA licenses of both her daughters while serving on the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
Mary brings her experience as a certified public accountant and attorney when working with clients, advising them on tax and legal matters regarding sales tax. Prior to joining Barbara J. Thomas, CPA in 1999, Mary worked as a compliance auditor at an internationally known health institution and as an auditor at a Big Four accounting firm. She researched external and internal reporting requirements, audited existing systems, and presented feasible solutions to bring the client systems into compliance with internal and external guidelines. Mary also gained diversified legal experience while working with law firms in Austin, TX and Houston, TX. She has volunteered her legal services at the First Court of Appeals. When Mary’s not busy addressing client matters, she can be found playing with her dog Ella, playing bunco with the neighborhood ladies and listening to Diana Krall.
Mary holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in accounting from the University of Houston–University Park. Mary became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and an attorney in 1997.
